Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson

Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson (1748-1782) was born 9 Oct. 1748 in Charles City Co., Virginia, British Colonial America. She was the daughter of John Wayles and Martha Eppes. She married Bathurst Skelton on 20 Nov. 1766, and they had one child; widowed 30 Sep. 1768. She married Thomas Jefferson on 1 Jan. 1772 in Charles City Co., Virginia, British Colonial America, and they had six children. She died 6 Sep. 1782 in Albemarle Co., Virginia. She was one of the eminent women for whom Wilford Woodruff initiated proxy temple ordinance work in Aug. 1877.
