Journal Entry

April 12, 1897 ~ Monday

April 12th I slept some 4 1/2 hours from midnight till 8 a.m. dressed and
walked out around the house & to Barn & back. Mr & Mrs Bynon called.
I directed Bro Nuttall in the trimming of some fruit trees. I slept
at intervals during the day. Dr Snow & his mother called at 345.
My appetite is not very good, yet I eat bread & milk with a relish
and I take enough of that. I ate a bowl of oyster soup & cracker & a baked
apple. I slept fairly well before midnight.

Letter from Andrew Kimball, 12 April 1897

Salt Lake City, Utah, To the First Presidency, Salt Lake City, Utah. Dear Brethren: In closing up my labors as President of the Indian Territory Mission, it being a little over three months since my report of 1896 was submitted, I take pleasure in reporting in a general way our labors since that time. We then had 33 Elders, we now have 61 where our Elders were holding from 1 to 7 meetings in a week, they are today holding as high as 10, and in some instances a series of 28. Where we were only partially organized, today our organ- ization is as complete as we can make it, and is working like clock work. For a long time we have been hampered in size of field and in concequence there- of with much sickness. we had under those conditions from 75 to 100% sickness, today we do not reach 5%.
