I could not find the same Gospel taught in my boyhood, that Jesus taught; but I have lived to hear, & embrace, & work in it near fifty years." We are here on a mission, We have great reasons to rejoice, We have the Kingdom of God." spoke of the restoration of the Gospel by the ancient Prophets -- of Joseph Smith's mission upon the earth, & in the spirit world. Spoke of the power of the Priesthood unto life, & salvation, of trials, & prosperity of the saints. Encouraged them to faithfulness, & diligence.

Elder B. Young arose & said one thing lay with wait on his mind ie that we should be prepared to keep each commandment as it came from the Lord by the mouth of the prophet, & as the Lord had commanded us to build a temple we should do it spedily

"I am with the testimony, & teachings of the brethren who have Spoken, many new things have been presented to my mind." spoke of the labors reques[t]ed for the spread of the gospel, the obligations which the L.D.S. were under to carry it to the nations of the Earth, the labor of the Millennium, the redemption of the dead who never heard the Gospel, the importance of obeying all the commandments of God, which now exist, & which may hereafter be given, said "I have witnessed the fulfillment of numerous propecies given through Joseph Smith." Prayed God to bless his people & preserve them from the hands of their enemies.

Therefore, prepare yourselves, O ye Saints of the Most High God, with oil in your lamps, for blessed is he that watcheth for the coming of the Son of Man. Again, hear ye the word of the Lord, O ye mine apostles, whom I have chosen in these last days to bear record of my name and to lead my people Israel until the coming of the Son of Man, I the Lord have raised up unto you my servant John Tay- lor to preside over you and to be a lawgiver unto my church.

Again, there is another eternal truth stares me in the face. In case of the death of the President of the Church, Brother George Q. Cannon, Wilford Woodruff, the President of the Twelve, nor any six of the Twelve Apostles, combined, have the power to appoint a President for the Church. It takes Twelve men or a majority of them, to appoint a President for the Church. And so far as the appointment of Brigham Young and John Taylor, as the President of the Church; there has never

Elder Woodruff pro- phesied at a conference at Ogden, that Joseph F. Smith would become President of the Church, and we would have to deviate from the usual course in, in order to have that fulfilled. And it was said, that prophecy was recorded. Now if Elder Woodruff delivered such a prophecy, and that by inspiration of the Lord, which I verily be- lieve he did, it will be fulfilled as sure as fate; and that too, without deviating from the path marked out by the Lord and followed by the Presidency of the Church. I will also here make a statement that I, Wilford Woodruff, heard Heber C. Kimball and Pres Joseph Young say that they heard Joseph Smith say in their presence, and in the presence of others in 1832, the first time that Joseph Smith, ever had on interview with Brigham Young, he said that Brigham Young would yet be the President of the Church. And that was three years before there was a Quorum of the Twelve appointed.

And no man knew that Brigham Young would ever be an Apostle, unless God revealed it to the Prophet. And still, after sixteen years of revolution and change Brigham Young was President of the Church, without turning to the right or left, from the path marked out by the Revelations of God. And that pro- phecy is also recorded; and there was not one chance in ten for that prophecy to be fulfilled, that there is for Joseph F. Smith to the president, in the regular channel of the order of God. Now, Brother Grant, I have given you my reasons for believing that, in case of the death of the President of the Church, it is the right of the ^President of the^ Twelve Apostles to become the President of the Church, and that the majority of the Twelve Apostles will so decide, until the coming of the Son of Man.

August 14th 1897 To your Majesties the King and Queen of Sweden. I have been informed that your Majesties have been very kind to those of your Majesties subjects who have felt disposed to embrace the fulness of the ever- lasting Gospel, popularly called Mormonism, some of whom have emigrated to Utah. These have united to prepare a small token of respect to your Majesties, a box made of Utah Onyx, containing the Book of Mormon, which will be presented to you by one of their number Elder J. M. Sjodahl, and which I hope and trust you will receive from them as an evidence of the respect and love which they bear toward your Majesties. As a prophet, seer and revelator, and president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I bless you both with all blessings which I ave power to bestow upon my fellow men, that in the morning of the resurrection you may receive joy and rejoincing at the hands of the Creator, for the many good deeds bestowed upon these your Majesties' subjects.
