Joseph Smith Jr.
Joseph Smith Jr. (1805-1844) was born 23 Dec. 1805 in Sharon, Windsor Co., Vermont. He was the son of Joseph Smith and Lucy Mack. He married Emma Hale on 18 Jan. 1827; participated in plural marriage. He was baptized 15 May 1829. He first met Wilford Woodruff on 25 Apr. 1834 in Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, and they served together in church positions from 1834 to 1844. He died 27 Jun. 1844 in Carthage, Hancock Co., Illinois.
