Charles Smith (unk.-1849) was the son of Samuel Smith and Caroline A. Merrill. His death from cholera, and the deaths of his adoptive parents William Hand and Eliza Ann Merrill Hand, were mentioned by Wilford Woodruff in his journal on 31 May 1849. He died before 13 May 1849 in Jefferson City, Cole Co., Missouri.
