Transcript

Hello and welcome to a day in the life of Wilford Woodruff! My name is Maddie and I am the public relations manager for the Wilford Woodruff Papers Foundation. Today I will be reading a journal entry from Wilford Woodruff on March 12, 1850. He writes…

“We had one of the hardest snow storms this morning that I ever saw. There was about 12 inches of snowfall in 3 hours.

I went into Boston to continue the purchase of goods. We made a Bill of Hardware Nails & a Bill of $600 of Boots & shoes.

Elder Alexander Badlam arrived home today from the gold diggings of San Francisco to Cambridge-port. He had been gone for one year to that country. He was truly glad to get home & we were glad to see him. He brought $2000 dollars worth of gold dust And he brought me A present of 9 1/2 oz. of gold dust as A present from several Brethren in the mines. And this begins to fulfill a portion of my Patriarchal Blessings which I received under the Hands of Father Joseph Smith in 1837.He said I should have access to the treasures hidden in the land to assist me in my necessities & in gathering many orphan children to Zion. And it is beginning to come to pass. Brother Badlam called upon me in the evening & we had a pleasant interview together.”

Wilford mentions in his journal that the gold he receives is fulfilling a portion of the patriarchal blessing he had received 13 years earlier. How can you see the Lord guiding you in your life and fulfilling your needs? How have you seen your Patriarchal Blessing fulfilled in your life?
