August 07, 1841 ~ Saturday
7th One of the Menda Africans was drowned
in the canal a few rods from Fathers house I
saw the body soon after it was taken out of the
water his name was Fawney many persons were
gatherd together on the occasion, among others
cousin Eldad Woodruff.

Cousin Betsyey Cossett parted with us to day
& returned home.
