William Floyd

William Floyd (1734-1821) was born 17 Dec. 1734 in Mastic, Suffolk Co., New York, British Colonial America. He was the son of Nicoll Floyd and Tabitha Smith. He married Hannah Jones on 20 Aug. 1760 in New York, British Colonial America; widowed 16 May 1781. He married Joanna Strong in 1784 in New York. He died 4 Aug. 1821 in Western, Oneida Co., New York. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence but, because his proxy temple work had been complete by a relative, he was not included on the list of signers for whom Wilford Woodruff initiated proxy temple ordinance work in Aug. 1877.
