Silas Sanford Smith

Silas Sanford Smith (1830-1910) was born 26 Oct. 1830 in Stockholm, St. Lawrence Co., New York. He was the son of Silas Smith and Mary Aikens. He married Clarinda Ann Ricks on 9 Jul. 1851 in Layton, Davis Co., Utah Territory; participated in plural marriage; widowed in 1864. He married Martha Eliza Bennett on 19 Jul. 1865 in Great Salt Lake City, Great Salt Lake Co., Utah Territory. He was baptized 16 Aug. 1839. He served in church positions alongside Wilford Woodruff throughout their lives, and he was set apart by Wilford Woodruff on 10 Jun. 1883 to be Stake President of San Luis Stake in Colorado. He died 11 Oct. 1910 in Layton.
