Matthias Foss Cowley

Matthias Foss Cowley (1858-1940) was born 25 Aug. 1858 in Great Salt Lake City, Great Salt Lake Co., Utah Territory. He was the son of Matthias Cowley and Sarah Elizabeth Foss. He married Abbie Hyde on 21 May 1884 in Logan, Cache Co., Utah Territory; participated in plural marriage. He was baptized 1 Nov. 1866. He served wtih Wilford Woodruff in church positions from about 1882 to 1897, and he prepared Wilford's journals for publication in Wilford Woodruff: History of His Life and Labors (Salt Lake City: 1909). He died 16 Jun. 1940 in Salt Lake City.
