Martha Dandridge Custis Washington

Martha Dandridge Custis Washington (1731-1802) was born 2 Jun. 1731 in New Kent Co., Virginia, British Colonial America. She was the daughter of John Dandridge and Frances Orlando Jones. She married Daniel Parke Custis on 15 May 1750 in New Kent Co., and they had five children; widowed 8 Jul. 1757. She married George Washington on 6 Jan. 1759 in New Kent Co.. She died 22 May 1802 at Mount Vernon, Fairfax Co., Virginia. She was one of the eminent women for whom Wilford Woodruff initiated proxy temple ordinance work in Aug. 1877.
