If all who bear the name of Saints get into the celestial world it will be because they purify themselves and are faithful & overcome & feel a little more the responsibility that belongs to the Kingdom of God than many now do.

I attended a missionary Party at the social Hall at 5 oclok there were about 70 couple present it was much the best party I ever attended there was much of the spirit of the Lord resting upon the company all the Presid- ency & O Hyde W. Woodruff J. Taylor G. A. Smith Lorenzo Snow Erastus Snow & G Q Cannon of the Twelve present I never saw President Young feel Better. He gave a short address He said the gentile chain was broaken & they would never put their yoke again upon the neck of the saints or church & Kingdom of God to all Eternity if we would do our duty

it is not proven that people are the saints of God because they live in these vallies but those prove themselves saints who live by Evry word of God we can be saints or not Just as we please if we want to prove to God or man that we are saints then we must live for God & none Els

Wickedness is increasing throughout this whole Nation & Exhertions are making to try to destroy the kingdom of God. The Nations of the Earth are becoming more & more fearful of the signs of the times & of the future Events which await them. We have had peace in these vallies since we came here as pioneers in 1847 with the Exception of the Buchannan war which cost the Nation $40,000000 dollars & cost us 40 miles travel & Back again we have also had some Indians wars which has cost some lives & considerable property. The wicked of this Nation are determined if possible to destroy & scatter the saints during the year 1870 But the Saints are in the Hands of God as they Ever have Been, & God will defend them & fight their Battles if they will ownly be faithful & trust in him. 1870 will be an Eventful year in many respects. In fact Every year is Eventful now in this fast age God has set his hand to Esstablish Zion & his Kingdom & he will accomplish in spite of Earth & Hell, wicked men & devils He will overthrow the wicked the, scorners, the Hipocritt, & unbelievers & save his Saints

O, God, our Eternal Father we have assembled on this occasion to celebrate one of the greatest & grandest Events of the generation in which we live, and we offer up the gratitude of our hearts with thanksgiving for thy merciful & protecting care that has been over us when we were led into these vallies By thy servant servant Brigham Young, twenty two years ago, we found them a perfec desert inhabited ownly by wild beast & a few red men who roamed over the plains. To day we behold the teeming thousands of the Anglo-Saxon race assembled here to celebrate the completion of a line of Rail Road into this City which has opened up commerce between us and all the world. Thou has Enabled thy saints who have gathered here from the Nations of the Earth to fill these vallies of the Mountains with 600 miles of cities, towns, villages, gardens, orchards, vineyards, and fields, and the desert has been made to Blossom as the rose. We should be recreant to our duty did we not acknowledge the hand of thee our God in thy protecting care that has been over us

President Young spoke 10 Minuts spoke of the organization of the Church. Read a Revelation that a Desolating sickness would cover the Land but the saints would stand in holy places & not be moved the wicked say the Lord delayeth his coming

Israel Begins to Feel that it is time to rise up and appoint her own Governors, Judges & Rulers & trust in God for the Result The American Nation as a United States Government is doomed To destruction and No power can save it. They have forfeited all right and title to Redemption or Salvation at the Hand of the Lord or his saints it is decreed that the measure which they have meeted out unto the saints shall be meetied unto them and they are hastening unto there work of desolation, war, Bloodshed, & destruction and wo, wo, is ther doom. The spirit of Prophecy would cry O, Lord, Hasten thy work, let the wicked slay the wicked untill the whole land is clensed from the corruption, sin, abomination, and wickedness which now reigns upon the face of the whole Earth. May thy Judgments Continue to be poured out upon this land of North America untill the Blood of Prophets & Saints is avenged before the Lord and thy words fulfilled upon the Land of Joseph. Take away the sceptre rule and Government from the wicked & corrupt and give it into the Hands of the Just even thy saints, that they may rule in righteousness before thee. Give thy oppressed people O Lord the privilege of appointing there own Governor, Judges, and Rulers, from this time forth that thy Kingdom may be Esstab- lished upon the Earth, and the poor rejoice in the Holy One of Israel

the Lord is determined to esstablish his kingdom in the last days & He will have a faithful diligent & obedient people and He chastizes the Saints to keep them humble & make them do thereir duty if we had not been mobed & afflicted but always been in prosperity we should have been lifted up in the pride of our hearts & not gathered together & built up Zion as we ought to have done, so that these trials will work together for our good.

I should judge from my feelings And intimations of the spirit of God that the endowment had commenced & that the Lord had commenced pouring out some special blessings upon the Saints in Nauvoo but time will determin whether this is the case. My soul has been much refreshed and edefyed of late in reading the Book of Mormon the time has come for its sayi[n]g[s] to be fulfilled

on the 27th Day of June 1844 Joseph Smith the Prophet & Hiram Smith the Patriarch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was basely shot & martered while in Prisioon whare they wer cast unlawfully by there persecuters they were martered by An American Gentile mob And may the Lord Avenge there blood in his onwn time & way. The Prophet Joseph gave the quorum of the Twelve Apostles there endowm[en]t A few months befor his death.
