John Matthias Burk

Burk (Burke), John Matthias (1793-1853), was born on 4 Feb. 1793 in Fairfield, Herkimer County, New York. He was the son of Charles Burke and Esther Robinson Bohannon. He married Abigail Fellows on 13 Mar. 1821 in Fairfield. He was baptized into the Church on 9 Oct. 1830 in Kirtland, Geauga County, Ohio. After his wife died, he married Keziah Keturah Van Benthusen Rollins Bunnell on 22 Jan. 1835 in Liberty, Clay County, Missouri. He settled in Nauvoo, Hancock County, Illinois by 1842 where he was associated with Wilford Woodruff at this time. He died on 8 Jun. 1853 and is buried in Ogden, Weber County, Utah.
