James Jesse Strang

James Jesse Strang (1813-1856) was born 21 Mar. 1813 in Scipio, Cayuga Co., New York. He was the son of Clement Strang and Abigail James. He married Mary Perce about Nov. 1836. He was baptized about Feb. 1844. He started a new church, known as the Strangite movement, and Wilford Woodruff recorded some of his work against the Church. He died about 26 Jun. 1856 in Voree, Walworth Co., Wisconsin Territory.
