Among the great events of man
was erected to be active in the plan
Of bringing to pass Immortal things both heavenly & divine
Which are presenting themselves upon the wings of time
The hills of have oft his footsteps bourn
Many of his youthful days to post amid the fields of corn
As the law to Adam hath not been repealed
It is yet virtuous for man to labour in the field
In all ages the Lord hath chosen whom he would
To bring to pass the great events of God
David left his flocks to meet an unce^i^rcunsised foe
Amasa now is call to warn this generation to
As light out of darkness and truth out of the earth hath sprung
And given access to a covenant God made with man
At nineteen years of age Amasa did this covenant secure
And now his voice to this lofty motive is believed
He is engaged in a great and glorious cause
Which is teaching God's great and Celestial laws
While millions will not raise their hands
To gain an inheritants on land
A dispensation of the gospel is commited unto him
That he may warn this generation to flee from sin
By the [laws ]of the people will be made one
And be prepared for the Revelation of God's own son
Amasa hath left his kindred and home
To preach the same gospel that did Moses Lehi & John
And if faithful he will arise in clouds above
And be crowned with King Jesus in an element of love
He fears not the ep threats or epethets of man
While he is a coworker with Joseph in bringing fourth the plan
Of gathering all Israel upon the promised land
Abraham's seed will then be numerous as the sand
When Amasa herd the fulness of the gospel sound
He opened his heart The seed took root on mellow ground
And then by faith he launched forth
With Zerubbabel to proclaim its worth
After spending eighteen months in a glorious cause
And faithfully warning the gentiles to keep Gods holy laws
He is called of God to be a high priest
And to journey with his brethren to the far west
In eighteen hundred thirty four on the firstfifth day of May
Amasa joined his Brethren on that illustriois day
And with them did journey to land
To protect his Brethren which were on afflicted land
In this worthy deed his faith hath been prooved & tryed
And his offering compared by Abrahams side
This mission now is over with him
The people of the south will hear his voice & flee from sin
Tis true that in the summer of eighteen hundred, 34
That Amasa was afflicted very sore
Yet in the same year on banks he did stand
With Willford and [received] the promised land
On the twenty third of December—he is prepared to go forth
To preach the gospel to the people of the south
Haman his pardner and Joseph to
Will proclaim the gospel as other Apostles do
Dear Brethren in the Lord I say go on
Adorn your high standing before the Father & the Son
They are privleged above most who have a birth
In this generation or now supply a place on earth
May God grant you grace while you travel
That you may over-come the powers of the devil
May not the force of Earth or hell combined
Destroy the peace of your expanded mind
Let a zeal for Gods law vibrate your soul
While you teach the fruits of a Kingdom begining to roll
Spare not. Warn the people the time is nigh
For the gentiles to live or to die
The ancient Apostles and Prophets of God
Before you a thorny road have trod
Their course is finished their crowns are sure
With them you'll be crowned if you endure
I will soon endeavour to follow your example
By using my influence in warning the people
That in the end we may be esstablished together
And be kings and priests unto God forever
And in that Illustrious day
Whom the Lord unto the[e] shall say
Arise and reign with me above
And be imbraced within my Fathers
Then Brother Amasa look around for me
That I may also thy companion be
Amid the celestial love which the faithful have won
Will be receieved by the father and his Son
From in that glory we will meet together
And Willford and Amasa will embrace each other
Then a tie will be wound around each heart
Which time nor Eternity can never part
WHARE is the man that will not honor Jesus Christ
is such a man worthy of any glory Nay he stems
the dignity of that character—which God destiened
that man should receive shall man be ashamed
to receive and cultivate that noble and glori
ous principle which ever vibrated the bosom
of that Illustrious senator of heaven let
existance forbid it as warden that Abraham
was prepared to offer up his son and Daniel
face the lions den What is equal to the gospel
of Jesus Christ Kings thrones powers and dom
inions sink into insignifficens before such
greatness what could daunt the Ancient
Apostles and Prophets not the powers of earth
let Christ be King forever.
What is there to dishearten the latter day saints
the righteous saints have most done crying
under the Alter O Lord avenge us of the ^blood of the^ Apostles
and Prophets God's work is speady
the latter-day saints possess the the gospel of
Christ they will spread it in spite of earth
or hell the saints are gathering Christ
is a loveing and prepareing their [Dreams]
O saints fear not but go on
and put thy trust in God his work
is most glorious he[']ll reign victorious
O saints the Lord thy God Almighty
reigns and will shake the power of all
the infernal conference combined
